Spox: Putin discusses OPEC+ cooperation with Saudi king
MOSCOW, Feb 4 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud discussed cooperation under the OPEC+ format during recent phone talks, spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
“On the whole, the issue of interaction within OPEC+ appeared yesterday during a telephone conversation between President Putin and the king of Saudi Arabia,” Peskov said, adding that Russia “is ready to cooperate in this format.”
Russia may be represented at an OPEC meeting in February if it is held, Peskov also said.
“Of course, if such meetings are held, Russia at some level may well be represented, like it was before,” he said.
A source said earlier that OPEC+ states decided to hold a meeting of the technical monitoring committee on Tuesday–Wednesday, ahead of schedule, to discuss the situation with coronavirus and its impact on the oil market and are also considering moving the day of ministerial meetings from March 5–6 to an earlier date, but there is no final decision yet.
